How Nature Supports Mental Health in Recovery

May is Mental Health Awareness Month: a reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health. Many people silently struggle with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and addiction and support from others can make a powerful difference.
The 2026 Mental Health Awareness Month theme, “More Good Days, Together,” encourages individuals and communities to reflect on what a “good” day looks like and how we can help create more of those moments for one another. The theme highlights the importance of personalized mental wellness and connecting people with the right support at the right time.
Ways to Support Mental Health
- Check in with the people around you and truly listen
- Encourage open conversations without judgment or stigma
- Support healthy habits like rest, movement, and self-care
- Remind others that asking for help is a sign of strength
- Share kindness, patience, and compassion whenever possible
Even small gestures can help someone feel seen, supported, and less alone. Together, we can create stronger communities where mental wellness is prioritized and everyone has the opportunity for more good days.
